British Science Week Parliamentary Reception

11th March 2024
London, UK

We showcased the DolPHIN2 work at a parliamentary reception for British Science Week at the Houses of Parliament.

We were able to show how funding from Unitaid enabled us to establish that DTG was safe to use in pregnant women and their infants.  The event was organised by STOPAIDS in conjunction with our funder Unitaid and was entitled British Health R&D: Innovation that delivers global impact to reach the SDGs by 2030.  Lord Jonny Oates opened the reception.  We also heard from the Unitaid deputy director, Tenu Avafia, who spoke about Unitaid’s work and the importance of civil society and public engagement.  There was a video message from Lynette Mabote about the right to health and the right to benefit from science.  Chi Onwurah, Shadow Minister Science Research & Innovation, stated that long-term stable funding is vital in order to deliver on global health goals and noted that innovation comes from partnerships.
